Some of you have been asking, so here goes.

Exactly 2 months to-the-day since the 'accident' Erik returned to the mound tonight in a start for the Maxim Yankees (www.maximyankees.com) in Reno versus the Reno Astros. He went 3 innings (39 pitches).

Final line: 3 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 Ks, 2 BBs, 1 ball hit out of the infield. There was one comebacker which was fielded nicely and one popup to the pitcher which was dropped (1st inning) but the runner was subsequently thrown out.

The first 6 pitches were balls, but he settled down and he looked good, confident and happy to be there. Many, many friends made the drive to be in attendance...including his pitching coach since age 9 and families of friends. Lots and lots of hugs in the stands after the outing.

Luckily for me, they served beer and I utilized an average of 1 per inning. YIKES! Red Face AND...I subsequently won over $100 in the casino after the game...must've been my luck day - huh?

Now he wants to hit in the doubleheader tomorrow. Oh geez! What am I going to say about that!

Again, thanks for all your support! Smile

You know JB...

While I was very concerned about the physical, and I was so relieved to hear that the physical seemed to be progressing remarkably well...

Though I didn't want to bring it up, I always thought that that mental might be the most difficult....

This is just great news!!

And as for the luck...sorry...I beg to differ with you...chalk this one up to faith, prayer, devine help, positive attitude, family, good care, and of course good Karma for a family who does so much for others both here, in your community and in our region...

Cool 44

From a Stanford baseball family: YAY!!!! Although you know I never had a doubt for a moment that this would be the result. I hope that someday your nerves are just a distant memory. It's funny how the bad times can make the good times, even better. So glad for Erik and all of you.

P.S. Don't know if you know who is housesitting for D.S. while he's up there watching and cheering (hint: someone with those same initials) Wink. I wish I could have been there to join in the fun.
I just wanted to make one other note...a VERY heartfelt "THANK YOU" to one of the HSbaseballweb's own, "leftycatcher." I just met leftycatcher last week as he caught Erik's last bullpen in preparation for this outing. Smile It seems lefty works with Erik's pitching instructor and so he was there to help get him ready.

The very best of luck to leftycatcher as he heads off to Minnesota this Fall to begin his college baseball career as you guessed it, a lefty catcher!
