Well, what a season. The good and the bad. I've decided not to measure this teams success in wins and losses. But rather on how my son has developed thru the summer. He has grown both physicaly and mentally with this team. At 14, 6'1 and 200 he's hit for average and power this summer. He's playing four positions and still enjoys the game.

Our goals for this summer were:
1. Allow him to travel outside Indpls. to have a taste of baseball in other places
2. To play against better competition
3. To be able to measure himself against that competition
4. To find what areas were weaknesses in his game
5. To prepare himself for HS ball.

He's learned a lot....I've learned a lot. Our team will be at Disney 7/23-7/31 for the 14u AAU Nationals. Seems their are teams from all over. Should again be a great opportunity to see some other teams/players.

Hi InDplsFreshman,

Your boy plays for the Prospects, doesn't he? We're from Ft. Wayne and my boy plays for the Indiana Heat. He's about the same size as your son - 6', 200 lbs. He used to play for the Indy Bandits. Just wondering if we've played you guys in the past or crossed paths. What h.s. will he go to? Mine begins Snider H.S. in the fall and today he begins summer camp with the h.s. team.

I think you just picked up a player (Dave) from the Heat, didn't you?

Good luck at the nationals!

Blue skies...

Some replies..... Yes, he plays for the prospects and yes Dave formerly of the Heat plays for us now. Quiet kid, just trying to fit in I'm sure. Good Pitcher. Havent seen him hit much yet.
The Bearcats and the Bulls represent a couple of the better teams out of Central Indiana. I must say with the influx of year round facilities here in Indpls the sport has become much more competetive. Good facilities, teachers and classes abound. You can tell that kids(or their parents..lol)want to get better.
As for my kid, he'll be attending Indpls. North Central. So far I think he's learned a few things.
1. How playing time is earned by hustle, concentration and giving 110%
2. How to hit the curve ball
3. How to be a thinking hitter.(What's he going to throw me next? Where in the zone ?)
4. To take better care of himself(icing the arm after pitching, stretching and maintaining fluids and salt intake.)
5. To pull for his teamates.

Myself, I've learned a few things too.

1. Little League is over, sit down.
2. I'm not the coach.
3. It's okay to live vicariously through my son.
4. Enjoy the moment....it'll be with me always.

indplsfresman,
My sons team lost to your team (I believe?) in the USSSA World in Lexington 3-2 in pool play. Your sons team is the Indiana Prospects, right? They are a very good team. My son plays for the Louisville Barracudas. Which kid was yours?

BTW...your kids wanted us to beat the Lumber Kings (Zach Osbourne) after you guys just finished beating them and we did 3-0. They had Zach pitching, but they had to pull him in the 2nd because he was getting hit hard. Heard you guys finished 2nd to Alton. We finished 4th - the bats went to sleep against the Quad City Hitmen and we made an earlier exit than we wanted to.

blue skies,
I am familiar with your sons team as well. We played you guys in a tournament in Louisville last year. My son pitched that game (LHP) and you guys threw a realy good CB pitcher. I beleive the game ended in a 2-2 tie. You guys have a nice team as well.
