Never seen this before.

Went to my youngest sons summer college game here in NC.

4th inning - the other team's 4 hole hitter hits a shot to dead center - my son runs to the 8 foot wall - jumps up and trys to catch it - misses it and disappears over the wall.

Homerun. Monkey boy comes back to the field in one piece.

7th inning - same batter - hits another shot - same spot - Monkey boy runs to the wall - leaps - balls tips off his glove - and again he is over the wall.

Homerun - this time my son doesnt get back up so quickly.

Thankfully - he wasnt hurt too badly.

Twice over the CF wall - never seen that happen before.

One of my baseball recollections (to the best of my ability) was hearing my rightfielder yell "plenty of room" just before I collided head first in full leap with the support post on the fence.

The next game I played (missed a couple with a concussion) I saw him leap for a fly ball with a foot of space between him and the fence. I gave him a rash of cr@p about judging distance and attacking the fence. This was a college outfielder who should be able to judge the distance to the fence. The team called him "Plenty" for plenty of room the rest of the season. Had we been able to look twenty-five years into the future we would have called him "Abreau."

At 13yo playing centerfield I had a bead on a ball hit over my head by Larry Rush. Unfortunately the chain link fence got in my way as the ball sailed 30' over the fence. There I was crumpled at the bottom of the fence and everyone rushed out to help. By the time they got there I finally was able to get my shoelace untangled from the bottom of the fence. Smile Larry went on to play in the Angels organization and we later played together in winter ball.

Great story about the younger itsin. Very impressive that he took on the wall the second time around.
