Squeeze bunt, run scores, only play is at first. Scored a sacrifice bunt, right?

Now what of there is an error on the throw to first? Is it scored "reached on error?"

Seems odd, that if he were out at first there would be no at bat charged, but getting on lowers the batting average.

Does the batter still get the rbi?

Batter does get an RBI. Scored a sacrifice, batter reaches on the error. No AB charged. When determining earned vs. unearned runs, reconstruct the inning as if he'd been gotten out, same as with any other such error.

You are right in thinking you don't punish the batter for the fielder's error. This is explicitly addressed in the rules, by the way.

You really didn’t give enough information to make calling it a “sacrifice” valid. How many outs were there?

Depends. Is the reason the batter/runner reaches 1st the error?

The Sac takes precedence and the AB is tossed. If the SK is like me and tracks how runners reach, that runner would have reached because of an E. But for other statistical purposes, it wouldn’t be an AB.

Does the batter still get the rbi? Yes.
If it was the intent of the batter to lay down a sac bunt, then even if he reaches 1B on error, the appearance is designated a sac. It doesn't count as an OAB. "A sacrifice is credited to the batter when, with not more than one out, his bunt enables any runner to advance ... results in the batter-runner being out before he reaches first, or would have resulted in his being put out if his bunt or batted ball had been fielded without error."

Record as a SAC, treat as SAC in the stats, but add an annotation in the scorebook as E-X, where X is the fielder who made the error.
