Freshman Ryan Zink, the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year in 2003, pitched 4 scoreless innings to close out the game and earn his first save in his first appearance on the bump for UIC. They took 2 of 3 from Arkansas State.

With their pitching, watch for them to surprise some people out of the Midwest.

Congrats to him and to your family, rz1.

Thanks all.

In the future when Ryan looks back and reflects on milestones this will be one of them. When we talked last night I believe his biggest thrill of the weekend was being able to stand on dry dirt. Is that not typical of the Northern baseball player this time of the year?

lhpx2,
An ex-Madisonian? Now that's hard to find, most people never leave until the hair turns blue. Ryan went to LaFollette HS and yes it is a shame the UW dropped baseball. Although I do understand. There was a huge public demand for a 20 scholarship womens crew team.

RZ-
We lived in Sun Prairie. I taught at the high school and remember many spirited contests in many sports against "Laugh-a-lot." Though we were there for many years, we moved when the boys were still in little league levels. We are now in the heart of(gasp)Buckeye country here in Columbus... Best of luck to your son at UIC.
