"The long-term use of over-the-counter (OTC) anti-inflammatory drugs can inhibit muscle growth in young, healthy individuals engaging in weight training, according to a new study from Karolinska Institutet, reporting on the effects of ibuprofen on the skeletal muscles and published in Acta Physiologica."

Interested in hearing thoughts on this study.  Granted 1200mg daily for 8 weeks doesn't mirror what I think occurs commonly.  It definitely makes me think there might be better options than what our household currently resorts to for common discomforts that comes along with pushing your body to max effort.

Adequate recovery efforts, while not as immediately effective as NSAIDs, can help if done consistently over the long-term.  By recovery efforts, I mean:

-Eating a sound diet that includes enough of each macronutrient;

-Getting 8+ hours of sleep EVERY night;

-Foam rolling, or using a lacrosse ball for the tricky spots;

-Epsom salt baths;

-Contrast showers;

-Icing after (please not before) use.

Different methods work for different people.
