My son's HS team uses these. The balls are good for indoor practice.

i used to have them, although they are now lost to the sewers.
The break on the ball is FAR more then anything I've ever seen a real ball do, and no seams to read. Good training tool for sure.
how are they used?
Does someone have to throw it using a curveball grip and release or do they just throw a normal fastball and it breaks?

You just throw it like a fastball and it breaks. It's kinda the point of having the ball and I have to agree that these balls break insanely hard but still they are good practice.
