My wife and I are hoping to move to Tennessee this summer after my son finishes baseball. We've been looking in the Nashville area (I have family there). More specifically the Franklin/Brentwood and Hendersonville areas. Yesterday we stumbled upon a home in Lebanon that caught our eye but I'm not very familiar with that area and was hoping some of you could help me and my wife out.

What are the schools like? What are the athletics like? What is the area like - is it rural?

Any information you have to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Since John is covering your Lebanon question in a priviate message, let me add one thing.

When I was a junior at the University of Tennessee I had the pleasure of dating a very pretty girl from Lebanon. I've often wondered what happen to her, but the main thing is tell your son the girls from Lebanon will bring a smile to his face. biglaugh
HV, you're telling us more than we want to know. laugh

Lebanon is far enough out of Nashville to still have a small town feel, but you're close to the city to enjoy its amenities.

Just a guess, but I'd think real estate is a bit less there than it is in Brentwood/Franklin.

Lebanon is also 30 minutes closer to "God's Country" - East Tennessee. Wink
FlippJ -- I live in Nashville. Lebanon is the county seat of neighboring Wilson County. It's a great small town, but fast growing. Not as fast as Franklin or Hendersonville, but my bet is that Lebanon is about ready to take off. Good schools. Sits on Old Hickory Lake. Lebanon has a real good industrial, commercial employment base. You can't go wrong in Lebanon -- or Franklin, or Hendersonville or Gallatin or Brentwood -- or Murfreesboro -- but heck, why not move into Nashville? You might want to check out the Hermitage area of Nashville. Someone remarked that real estate prices are far less in Lebanon than Brentwood or Franklin. That's right. Your dollar will buy more house and land in Lebanon than any of the cities you mentioned.
Don't know much about Lebanon except my oldest son attended Castle Heights Military Academy for two years back in the 80's. (It has closed). We would drive up and spend the weekends in Lebanon. Nice town...not too big and not too small. Close enough to Nashville that you can get to anything your heart desires; far enough away that you can still see the stars at night and listen to the whippoorwills.
