Trying out for a 28 & older team in March after taking 15 yrs off. Stayed in good shape and played slowpitch softball in my absence from baseball, so my fielding should be fine, but concerned about my hitting.

I intend to hit in the cages allot this winter, but wondered if anyone else took an extended leave from the game, what was the hardest thing about hitting after coming back? Bat speed? Timing? What pitches were the toughest to hit? What are the best drills to do to bring back my swing after all these years (besides hitting against live pitching)?

At my advanced age and girth, along with my ability to forget things like...like...things the hardest part for me was trying to figure out if I was at Stella's Batting Cages or the Loyola Medical Center.

I did get a hold of one pretty good last time and sent it right through the MRI...a one-in-a- million shot for sure!

I'm pretty certain that Humana HealthCare© along with my co-pay should cover the damages. But not to take chances I did leave six batting tokens on the technician's keyboard before they escorted me out.

Who are you foolin' papi? That's no picture of an ACL...

...that's a picture of the unfortunate Rhode Island White that landed in the backseat of your Acura© after you hit it on Rt. 47!

I'll only give you one point for it since you did turn around for a second try after missing it the first time.

No points either for the Jacobson's mail box or what's left of the McGrady's bus shanty.

And certainly no points for the dozen or so DeKalb Corn© signs still impaled through your grille.

Hitting without as doubt, but it comes back if you work at it. We had guys that threw prety hard but most were in the 70's. The old guy that lobs it in there about 55 will give you fits.

After about 36 making all the throws became more and more difficult. It was also about the age I discovered Advil.

I envy you but now I don't have time to play as I have two boys to go watch play.

One other thing,,it was also when I discovered I needed glasses. Get your eyes checked.

As long as playing the game brings a smile to your face and makes your heart beat a little faster than normal - it doesnt matter.

Have fun!

Dylan knew it.

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

I was thinking the same thing about getting my eyes checked. I used to have 20/20, but I got my eyes checked this year for the first time in a long time, and now I have 20/30. Still good eyesight, but maybe I need glasses before I start playing again?
