B/R hits a double, but misses first base. Pitcher, after all play has stopped, makes a live ball appeal on b/r that he missed first base, but throws ball into dugout.
Can b/r correct his mistake before award?
Can defense make another appeal?
Same situation, but make it a dead ball appeal.

The runner was on an advance base when the ball became dead so he may not return to correct his error. However, he doesn't need to because the defense lost it's right to appeal when they threw the ball away.

A dead ball appeal would result in an out.

Lesson: If possible, always make a dead ball appeal.
