I think a more interesting question would be "are there more injuries".

Medicine has advanced so much that we are now doing surgery and allowing players to continue their careers even when an injury occurs.

In the past, surgery was often not an option. When a kid had that kind of injury they simply hung up their gloves.

Thus, the reason I would like to know if there are more injuries vs. do we have more surgery.
Could it also be that we are quicker to take our children to the doctor than previous generations?

I never went to the doctor for what might be called a minor injury. We only went to the hospital if Mom could not stop the bleeding Smile

If your arm hurt, you rested it for a while and threw again when it felt better....

We talk about overuse injuries, and question if our players are playing too many games.. I tend to err on the side of caution and always stick to low pitch counts, but that being said, I remember playing baseball 12 hours a day all summer long as a kid. My arm was fine till I hit college and am still not sure why my shoulder gave out in my Junior year. Was it overuse at a young age or did my college coach overuse me (which I think he did - but I am no Doctor, I just play one on TV Smile )
