1 - Many coaches ask if the student-athlete is "interested" in their school. Easy answer is yes because initially it is true. But when they ask where their school ranks on the student-athlete's list the answer is not so easy. Thoughts?
2 - Disclosing the other schools the student-athlete is considering, at the coaches request, is also very difficult. Some schools might remove a student-athlete from their "list" if that student-athlete is being actively recruited by a particular school. I fear some D3's might have this reaction to Ivy's.
3 - Finally, what if a new, or long dormant, school [re]enters the picture after you have told a different school it was at the top of your list? Assume the new school is now the belle of the ball. Do you advise that your list has changed?

The school my son now attends was not on his "fav" list. In fact he wasn't very interested at all at first or with the ACC conference.

Obviously the recruiting coach did not let that stop him from actively recruiting him. Big Grin

Priorities and interests change for recruits and they know that. If the coach is interested, whatever is on that list means nothing, other than what type of school or program the recruit is interested in, at the time he filled out the questionaire.

My answers based on my daughter's recruitment:

1) Easy to answer but be honest. The coaching community is smaller than we think.

2) Such is life if they remove your son from thier list. Chances are you won't even notice that for a while. And even if you do, it's probably their loss.

3) Why would you make an effort to contact Coach A to tell him that Coach B has recently been in touch and you're leaning that way now? Doesn't seem like a wise move to me.
