Contrary to what JH wrote here. Having attended 2 different Area Code Tryouts with my son, over 2 different years. They were completely different. The first tryout was over a weekend with Sat being a mix of walk-in's and invite. Sunday was only those who received invites plus any player from Sat whom they asked to come back. The following year the tryout was held in LI and only 1 day.. On hand were a group of kids who received invites and a large group who had gotten the info off the website and showed up. ALL were allowed to partake in the workout.

I belive this was right around the time that Area Code was sold to Student Sports. The change was evident that first year.
Coach Merc- Thanks for the clarification. Someone gave me the info I said, I guess they didn't know everything or it was my fault on the mix-up. Even still, I think your best bet would be to go to the website and fill out the required forms, even though you've pointed out it's not required. If anyone here attends a tryout, good luck and good luck in Long Beach if you make it.
20 Dad;
yes, the transfer was August 2004. When we conducted the tryouts, 99% were by invitation
only. The pro scouts for the Red Sox and the Pirates identify the players and I sent the letter for the tryout, printed a roster and attended each tryout.

Each year, my son and I organized a 900 team and when I observed players at the tryout, who were not selected by the pro scouts of the Pirates or Red Sox Area Code or later I received a strong recommendation from another pro scout or agent, I placed the player on the 900 team.

This was our system for 17 years. Now we use our USA contacts to select players for our Goodwill Series American teams in Australia. Our teams will play the best in Australia for two weeks and 14 games with wood bats, always wood bats.
Mike Pelfrey, Jerome Bonderman,Delmon Young, Adam Laroche and Bobby Jenks played for our American teams in the Australian Goodwill Series.

PS: check with a pro scout in your area for his referral to the Yankees scouts. We never charged the players for this tryout or the games in Long Beach. Good luck, "no worries".
