like jhodges saaid, you could get an armstrong (i have one and love it) or any kind of resistance tubing or theraband. there is also overload training, the idea of throwing with a higher weighted ball in set repetitions to build the exact muscles for throwing; and underload training, the idea of throwing with a lighter load than normal to get your body to learn the muscle memory of throwing with greater velocity because of the less weight. you should probably do a search on those two, it would take forever for me to fully explain them. hope i was of some help.
Weight Ball(WB) is an alternative to strength arm pitching muscles. *Some guidelines should be applied before throwing WB. Good mechanic, Wb, long toss and arm excercise with weight that mimic the pitching motion should be include to strength the arm. Like any other strength and conditioning program, common sense and caution need to be apply.

To throw hard you need good mechanic, arm strength, rotational strength and legs strength. None by itself would do much improvement because to pitch hard, arm strength, rotational strength and legs strength need to interact together.

By the way, what work for someone else probably won’t work for you. Find what work for you and stick with it.

* Its recommended an eight (8) week strength and conditioning program before throwing WB. So if you begin throwing WB right away its wrong. You get hurt not because the WB it’s because you don’t follow the guidelines

Also investigate the Jobe exercises and the rehab regiment for Tommy John surgery. Find someone (a baseball specific trainer and/or a physical therapist who specializes in baseball). All of the things mentioned could help if done correctly. If done incorrectly, may do more harm than good. But throwing is never a bad thing. Remember your mechanics on every throw. Good luck.
My son pitches. We have been to a couple of John Wolforth clinics. Look on pitching central.com and you will find all you need to know about arm conditioning. My son just turned 13 in August, plays up in age, all positions, bats left and right with homerun power and currently throws the ball 80 mph when he pitches, and from short. He is the most feared pitcher in the 14 year old city league and has never thrown a curve. He plays USSSA for better competition. He can throw the ball from home plate over the center field fence that is 12
feet high and 250 deep. We long toss and throw constantly. not off of the ound until spring. He is 5' 7" 170 lbs and a black belt in karate. I give the karate a lot of credit for mental toughness and balance. Pitching central has what you need.

As far as your money. I find it very hard to believe that you can not get in contact with him. If you are so eager to get your money back then contact your local better business bureau and see how they can assist. Or just take them to small claims court. There must be another reason a to why he did not contact you.. He is in he business of making money.

[quote]i didnt say anything about bad info. his theories are not edited. the coaches tips forum is full of them.
i did notice his message boards are now pay per view and not even open to be viewed.

Yes you are correct, you did not say anything about bad info, but your statement implies bad info. As for the message board when by his product you get into the customer areas this is the only place I went to..

"all i said was good info is not edited - his theories are not"

Look we can do this forever, but unless you have tried the program like I have and measured results it is difficult for you to have an opinion..

I have the luxury of never playing this game and I am not tainted by the myriad of good or bad info out there I took the same approach I used in training boxers and they all use hand weights to increase strength, endurance and punching speed. It is a sound approach and has been documented by many including ASMI Head quarter of Dr. James Andrews (http://www.asmi.org/asmiweb/research/usedarticles/overweight.htm)

Like all training programs there are risk and rewards. Do your homework open up to the possibilities and explore the outcome. You just can not just dismiss the evidence..

Quote: From ASMI
“The overweight baseballs ranged in weight between 5.25-17 oz, while the underweight baseballs were between 4-4.75 oz. Data from these training studies strongly support the practice of training with overweight and underweight baseballs to increase throwing velocity of regulation baseballs.”

Mr. Unspeakable has his approach and when studied with an open mind makes sense.

As to any of you that have had difficulty in getting his products or service I cannot comment. I can only comment on my own experience with program and products. I hope it works out.
all i said was good theories are not edited - his theories are not edited. how that makes me sound like im arguing against him i have no idea.
i study the people in the game. i get info from every college and pro person i can get. but ive also gotten very useful information from the "gurus" - dick mills, tom house, etc. how thats being closed minded i dont know either.
i have nothing against over/under weighted throwing. we dont use it but ive considered it.
nothing has been dismissed or an opinion given.
raider, I have taken and copied you workouts and I appreciate the info you put out all the time. One area we used for over and uder throwing is the Athletic pitcher program out of Houston Tx, It is like paul ***** i just have been able to get the atheletic pitcher program and thier clinics, and have been very happy with the results.
thanks. im very interested in the over/under program. just havent found one in enough detail that i like. how can i get info on the one you are using? vanderbilt pitching coach gave part of theirs at a clinic last year but not enough detail. i want to make certain on reps, distance, days, etc. if you havent noticed im very detail oriented with some of this stuff.
Raider, if you go to the Athletic pitcher .com it should give you info on the program. Yes the vanbderbuilt pitching coach was at the same cliniv I was last year in Chicago. The program is very in depth as far as the reps, weight, # of times per week, how to go to a mx program once the season starts. I was the same way i needed guidance as far as the reps and so on since it is a lot like weight lifting that you need a definite plan so you do enough without doing too much and hurting someone. You also have to measure the results so the platers know the program is working. It also involves throwing both up and down ramps with and without weighted vests on. Med ball work, and the stretch cord series is by far the best I have ever seen. You also have the players work on the mental side of putting forth a maximum effort during the progarm and some of the time you combine both velocity and command. We have a few hs programs now doing the program, however many people won't change how they feel about doing things a little different. It also takes a while to do the program always with coaching supervision so you need dedicated players. But even if part of your team is willing to put in the time I think it is worth it. Let me know what you think.
