My son was recruited by a d1 school. After he arrived they found they had some returning players that decided not to be drafted. These players 5th yr seniors, could not return without the money so a couple of players were asked to give up their money with the promise of more money next year. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this.

I've heard of it. Son was trying to work out a deal with a D1 and the coach didn't have enough scholly money. About a week later he called and had come up with quite a bit more. Said he had re-worked some deals with current players. I presume it was some sort of re-structure like you are talking about. Son ended up declining, so I never got actual additional details.

IMO the coach knew months ago these players would be returning and he is just now getting around to telling your son? When did this happen? n the fall it is now April? Not sure I follow how this happened?
Fifth year seniors had their shot, now its time for the new players to get an opportunity.
