SEC.....first and foremost you can't go wrong there. My player was recruited by both and visited Auburn. He loved the coaches at Auburn the best between the two but personally never visited the Alabama campus, not that they did'nt try to get him there. Facilities are amazing at Auburn but according to some it is in the middle of no where. Alabama coaches should be set for a while.....I'm not sure what was behind Coach Wells retirement and then reinstatement.....but I also have heard from many that Coach Slater is on the hot seat ! I'm not sure exactly what kind of specific information your looking for but if you want to PM me I can provide you contact information with someone that knows a lot of the Auburn program and its coaching staff.
My son went to a camp at Auburn and loved it. He said it was the most well run camp he had attended and that the coaches treated everyone with a lot of respect. He would go there is a heart beat if he could. I have heard that if they get rid of the coach that the Samford coach is a likely candidate to fill the spot. Can't say that that info is reliable in any way, just what I heard from several dads at Samford.
Auburn is a great school to attend and play baseball. The near future aspects of its head coach are up in the air. He has apparently been given specific goals to meet this year or he is gone. The goals are pretty lofty. The asst. coaches appear top notch and the current talent at AU is among the best in the nation. I would be surprised if the current Samford head coach gets a look at AU if a vacancy arises next spring.
It is my understanding that the team must reach a super regional or the university will make a coaching change. If a change is made look for Troy University head coach Bobby Pierce to make the 55 minute drive up the road and take the program over. Troy has been selected the last two season for a regional (where was Auburn) and he knows how to recruit the state of Alabama, Atlanta area & he played high school, coached juco baseball all in the Florida panhandle. Atlanta and the panhandle of Florida are no more than 2 hours from Auburn University. With the small town atmosphere, climate, facilities, and being in the SEC there is no reason that Auburn could not be a top 10 program every season.
