Aurora University

Not sure I'm an expert on AU but I do know a few things, it's 10 minutes from me and my son's best friends brother just finished a very successful career there. So I've been to a few games. They are usually a top 25 D3 team and have made the D3 world series 4 or 5 times in the last 15 years. I've only talked briefly to Coach Neitzel but he seems like a good coach. The field on campus is under construction and I'm not sure about their long term plans for a home field but last year they split home games between the Kane County Cougars field and Oswego HS's field. They have a hitting camp over Christmas, that might be a good way to get to know the coaches.

They recruit the Chicago area extremely heavily. Most of the kids that my son played with were contacted. Once your are on their list, it is hard to get off of it.

A highly regarded school & baseball program. Coach Neitzel is very solid & they are good recruiters - one of the top d3's nationally over the past 20 years.
I'm not sure if they've resolved their field issue yet but certainly a school worth looking into.
Il2008 - I know a client's son from Batavia who just graduated & had a great experience there.

Just came off another strong season and from what I hear will have a new field in 08 near their campus. Know a number of people who have gone thru program and a couple in it now - all have had good experiences.

I was recruited by them out of high school, great program! Always ranked ntionally every year. The coaches were very nice guys and they will be very honest with you too! A couple of negatives though, they don't give athletic money and always have around 50 guys on their roster. The school is about 1800 students and very good education program!

Good school and solid DIII program. Good success the last few years with a young team. Mood Jrs summer team was coached by one of the assistants at AU. Great guy and good coach.

Northern Illinois college baseball season weather might be a bit of a shock for a Texan however.
