Balk question

The pitcher forgets he has a baserunner and goes into a wind-up. Once he starts the wind-up, the runner takes off for the next base. Does the pitcher have to go to the plate to avoid comitting a balk? (i.e. Is there any tricky move he can make to try to get the runner?)

From MLB rules, from the windup once a pitcher starts any motion associated with his delivery he is committed to delivering the pitch to the plate.

Same rule applies in all rule books. Pitcher has to go to the plate. Plainly stated, he got caught sleeping.
