I wear 2 Polo....

Navy with the Navy Shirt

Black with the Black, Cream and Polo Blue shirts

I wear two and I rotate the baseballs in from left to right.....I keep two gamers in the right hand bag and any gamer that comes in goes in the left with my plate brush and any oversized lineup card...

Its not all practical, I just like the balanced feel and look....

2 bags.

Black for black shirt.
Navy for light blue and navy blue shirt.
And, I won't even own a white or cream shirt.

Don't have to worry about lineup cards. Number of baseballs in which bag doesn't matter to me as long as they are somewhat balanced. But, if I only have 2 baseballs, then they go in right bag.

Brush and indicator in the right. Watch for timed games in the left. I hate clicking the indicator with my left hand and it stays in my bag except if I need to look at it for a reminder of what the count is. Nonconventional but I can't stand trying to even get use to it in my left hand.

Thanks guys I have the gray bags "Smitty" is big and excellent. I am going to try using two this year. Last game I kept two balls in the right and one in the left with my indicator and line-up cards with extra pebcil and extra indicator. All seem to be wearing black with black OR navy with navy any reason? Why not the grey?

The grey bags often look like one attempted to match their pants and missed. Add to that many, if not most, areas have switched to the charcoal grey pants.

Our association requires black...black goes with everything. (We haven't worn navy shirts in years) Your belt is black, your shoes are black...why mix colors in your accessories?
Two black bags, unless it's a HS game (navy shirts. ugh) then navy bags (double ugh).

Only baseballs in the bags - as many as I can get, up to 6 (I'll get 2 in HS). Everything else in pants pockets: LF - pencil & indicator when it's not in my hand, RF - paper towel or handkerchief if it's hot, LR - plate brush, RR - lineup card.

I just don't care for gray bags. The only time I would consider wearing them is in a HS game, but my HS association still requires heather gray pants and that would be a bad combination. And generally, I could care less about fashion.

Only two in high school? Wow.

We get a minimum of four plus the two the pitchers have. After the top of the first, I've got five.

That's nice. Schools are strapped around here. I am on a constant quest for decent baseballs coming in before the start of an inning. If they come anywhere near me, into my bag they go. It's much better than waiting for one to get thrown back in. I hate wasting time.

I know my high school would give each starting pitcher a new ball and then put in two used baseballs. We kept a bucket of used game balls, but normally only used 4 during a game. Most high schools around us did the same..

A local coach explained it this way to me: "For less than $200 more a seasonI can provide an appropriate number of new balls at home games. The game IS call baseBALL."

I'm jealous of my son. He gets 7 dozen balls a game.

Do they come with a clubhouse boy to rub them up?

In the minors, only ocassionally. The main thing clubbies do for umpires in the minors is make sure they have fresh towels, offer to wash uniforms and take a hot dog and cold drink to their dressing room in th 7th inning, so that it becomes a cold dog and warm drink when the game is over.

Slightly off topic, but WHY DON'T KIDS CHASE FOUL BALLS ANYMORE?????

At our tournament over spring break, it seemed nobody chased foul balls.

The only teams that had someone on foul balls were the primier teams in the state.

Coincidence? I think not.

Must be some well heeled teams.........unfortunately at some of the rural HS's that I do, if you dont chase foul balls we arent going to play much baseball.....

I get three at game start and thats all they have.....Ive even had to supply some new gamers to get the game in......
