My son has also been using a George Brett Bamboo Dragon. He started with fall ball and has been using it in the cage.

Last week at PG Underclass, I suggested he try different bats. Wouldn't you know it, he broke two brand new bats - one in the cage the night before the Showcase, and a second one in a game (where he only got two foul ball swings). Grandparents bought him a third bat, but he decided to stick to the Babmoo Dragon.

BTW - his entire fall team used the Bamboo Dragon (each player in the league was given this brand of bat), and I can't remember any of son's team members (or for that matter any other teams they played) breaking a bat during any game.

My son has had a couple of the Brett Maple/Bamboo combination bats and they've been great. Haven't tried their 100% bamboo bat yet. Got a 100% bamboo made by the Bamboo Bat Company for X-Mas. So far so good. Only observation about the BBB bat so far is that it seems to sting a bit more than the Brett maple/bamboo. But that may be because he's still adjusting to the longer length.

Here's testimony to the durability of bamboo...selected by one of the best to drive 'em home!

A portion of The Legend of John Henry

John Henry went to the section boss,

Says the section boss what kin you do?

Says I can line a track, I kin histe a jack,

I kin can drive it wit bamboo,

I kin can drive it wit bamboo.

Ol' John was way ahead of the pack when it comes to the killer grass that is bamboo!

I has been said that John Henry was the best steel driving man around. Legend has it that He beat the best steam drill swinging a 14 pound sledge. Not only was his sledge handle made of the finest bamboo but the legend is very clear that he used a pure rotational swing, the secret behind his tremendous power.

Here's the 6th stanza of the ole slave song...
John Henry was a hammer man that swung his hammer round,
An when he hits that steel boys, you can feel it shake da ground,
Round and round, he always swung it round. And when dat hammer hits da steel it made dat awful sound.
