Its almost seven months since the Brussels Kangaroos started their 2007 season. HaverSon has already returned to the US and has taken an assistant coaching job (hitting and infielders) at Haverford.
Although their overall record was only 19-28, the Kangaroos managed to win the French speaking championship, and finish 3rd in Belgian Cup competition.
While I am working up a bit of a memoir about this experience, I'm posting now to mention a single Kangaroo player who should be of interest to some college coaches.
The young man (Vince) is entering his senior year in HS. His deceased father was American. This summer Vince performed well against at least five recent DIII, NAIA pitchers (all at least 5 years older).
Quick bat, good infield range with strong arm, Vince projects as 3B/OF, although he can play middle infield. Great Body (6'4"-190) that could easily carry another 30lbs. I'd suspect his 60 time is 7.1-7.2.
Although Vince hasn't played 100 games a year like many American kids, he has played in a lot of "big games". He was a starter on the 2007 Belgian national "junior" team and a key player on two Belgian youth teams that won European championships and later played in the US in two sanctioned "World Series" (2004 & 2006).
I know he attended the Brown University camp last summer, and at least one other. Vince understands the game, and could be dominant in the right college situation. He's promised to put his data up here on the unsigned players section. Meanwhile if anyone has any interest drop me a line here.
