If you do well at PG it gets noticed.

Its run extremely well. They know what they are doing and they know how to evaluate.

If anything, tell him baseball factory is the one that is the waste of money. They tryout will get you no exposure except to their "scouts." You will be called and told that you are on some national team most likely. A couple are good, but a lot of the team one stuff are money makers. They wanted something like $3,000 for a short trip to AZ.

Baseball factory is nothing more than an evaluation, a chance to get your feet wet, and for someone like me it was a chance to get a 60 on record.

Get on a good travel team and do some PG showcases.

I'll put up some stuff to show your dad in a sec.

Thanks for your input. I will be attending a 'evaluation' camp at Iowa University August 7-8. I know it's nowhere near a PG one but It just so happened my family will be in the area those days on a vacation so we all figured it would be a good experience atleast. Hopefully this leads to bigger and better things in the future.

2012 will be in at the Iowa Camp also. Looking forward to seeing it run. Coach Dahm and staff have done a good job in getting the most out of their players.
The first Showcase my son attended was Baseball Factory between sophomore and junior year. It didn't cost much money as I recall as it was an evaluation camp that they do all over. At that point we knew he was a good player but he was never clocked on the mound. He ended up throwing 89 that day. I originally thought it was a fluke but after that we decided that he should attend a PG event that was being held three weeks later. He threw 87 there and had a great evaluation. This started his journey that led him to play in college. Everyone that is interested in playing at the next level should be evaluated by a third party but make sure you know that that third party is in it to make money. After the evaluation be honest about your own talent and don't let them blow smoke up you know where and you will end up spending your money wisely. Chasing the dream is a great thing but don't lose the farm in the process.

Hey LWN,

What team was your son on? And what number was he? I was #5 for White. Maybe I played with/against him.
