One of my best friends succumbed to cancer on October 13th. She was my baseball wife. Probably the person I texted more in the past decade than anyone (family or work). Her celebration of life was earlier today, and the place was full of family and so many baseball people. Of particular note was that the entire Tuft's baseball team got on a bus at 6:30 am today to attend their teammate's mother's service. Travel teammates and travel coaches were present, too, and of course, all the baseball parents she touched over the years. The baseball community is a wonderful thing. Enjoy your baseball friends, son's teammates, and coaches, and don't sweat the small things, as at the end of the day, they really are not important. Rest in peace, Maura.
