Personally, I'd let him try to keep the streak alive.

Tactics such as the platoon view would say send the opposite hitter to the pitcher's throwing hand depending on the situation.

Since the object overall is getting a hit, a coach who would send up a pinch hitter would be showing a lack of confidence in the batter for that at bat.
I'd do he same as Q, I think most would agree. But it begs the question of whether the coach was aware of the streak, or if he attached much if any importance to it. Job # 1 for coach is winning the game. If the outcome is not in jeopardy then I'd say he's probably guilty of ignorance. If the game was on the line you have to give him benefit of the doubt and consider that he didn't feel the hitter was the best one in that situation to get a hit.
This seems to be a kid that has worked hard for that coach and produced for him when needed...would it kill the coach to give some respect back to the player. It does mess with a kids head when they are PR,PH for--they immediately feel that the coach does not have confidence in their abilities for that situation---the coaches reasonings behind their decision completely evades the player. His reasoning might make sense --but not always.Like my good friend the "sports psychologist"tells me all the time...if all the coaches would come see me...the players wouldn't have too!HAHA
As one that would normally stick up for the coach, think I might have to disagree with him in this situation.

When a kid is on a long hitting streak and the team has only a three run lead in the middle of the game, I would want that kid to continue his hitting streak.

Now if they were ahead by 10-15 runs I might think about getting someone else in there, but truthfully I doubt it would be for the guy with a long hitting streak going.

But one needs to know why the coach decided to do that before rushing to judgment. Is it possible he didn't know how long the hitting streak was?

Those (hitting streaks) are the kind of things you hope last forever!
