For the running portions of Tim's sessions that take place indoors, we will use a pitching lane that gives us plenty of space to work on Home to 1st. Outdoors in the spring, training will also include Home to 2nd, Home to 3rd and Home to Home.

We use digital timing pylons and can get accurate readings for both RH and LH batters to the 10,000th of a second.

And it is a good time to mention that the only way to gauge incremental progress in this type of training program is to use a reliable system of measurement like digital timing pylons where the runner breaks a plane in order to start and stop timing. This type of system also allows us to establish and measure reaction time.
Ibach:

We did purchase the program you have in the link to review, and I can only suggest that it is like the books on conditioning that line the shelves at Barnes & Noble. They show the basic principles of speed and agility, some using more correct techniques than others, but they do not make one qualified in physiology. Not bad nor good, they are just ideas to add to any training program.

However, to see real results that can be measured, the assistance of a coach like Tim Graf is crucial. One could probably learn to throw a four-seam fastball from reading a book, but it is much easier and more successful to do it with a skilled teacher.
Slam Baseball & Fastpitch Academy is owned by Toby Rumfield, who was drafted as the 63rd overall pick in 1991 by the Reds organization. In 1999 and 2000, Rumfield was a catcher with the Major League Atlanta Braves organization. In addition to owning Slam, Rumfield previously was a pro scout and recenly was named the field manager of the River City Rascals professional baseball club of the Pioneer League in O'Fallon, Mo.

Slam's staff includes four professional baseball scouts, the varsity staff from three local high schools and several pro players. For some basic info, check out our link on this forum or call (815) 725-SLAM.
We don't, as a general rule, post our instructors names or specific details to public forums. This is a second job for all of them, and we respect their privacy.

When an individual calls or comes in, we're happy to show them why our staff is the best in the southwest suburbs in terms of baseball knowledge, skill and experience. I would invite you anyone to call me at (815) 725-SLAM for more information.
