Baseball Weather has Arrived

Yep....looks like we will be spending alot of time HERE this week.

Not if you're Highland Park...there's a football team working out in there that has a game on Sunday. I'm sure their baseball coach is thrilled.

lol...you have to love that. Our school is not quite that bad. I just bring out kids back after everyone else is out of there.

Only in Texas does a Super Bowl team practice at a high school facility.

No practice today. We will hit and throw pens tomorrow whether we have school or not. Word on the street is we may be off until Friday. We are lucky in Sherman, we have great indoor facilities.

I may be wrong. But I thought if your school is closed by dangerous weather conditions you could not hold any type of practices??? What if someone gets in an accident on the way to practice when your school is closed.

Those rules are made by the individual district, not the UIL.

I checked with my AD and he said no school equals no practice. So I get another day off!!!

no school= no practice tomorrow. First scrimmage next week...ruh roh.

FD, When did Sherman get those indoor facilities? I know they sure didn't have them back in the early 80's when I played for Sherman. Are they part of an indoor facility built primarily for football?

We have 2 indoor cages at The Vet. Of the 4 gyms we have, the "small" one has a net that softball and baseball uses. The "turf barn" (indoor football facility) is where we get all of our IF stuff done. All of our OF drills get done, just can't hit them fungo. We also have a full size batting cage in there as well as a couple of pitching mounds.

If we were in school we wouldn't miss a beat with the weather we have. The roads up here are bad! As much as I want to practice tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have school tomorrow. Weather wise, Sherman is like being in a different state.

I remember the weather in Sherman well. There was something about being near the Red River...there seemed to be a line at Sherman going north from there that really got the worst weather. I remember Coach Benton skipping ground balls to us across the wooden basketball court. We sure could have used some facilities like you have now! It's nice to hear that things have improved! Yep... growing up in Plano, and then going up to AC for 4 years, I found it amazing the drastic difference in the weather from one to the other. We hosted a Spring Break tourney up there one year and it snowed. Dallas was 40^F and sunny.

Looks like another day off tomorrow for most schools. Those scrimmages next week should be interesting.

We are closed on Friday. Looks like an indoor practice for Saturday.

Indoor work outs are not all bad. It forces me to do a little more drill work that I might do if we were outside and this time of year with a young team we need that. Plus, we can do everything we do outside except flyballs.

If no school on Friday, does that cancel Saturday's events? Just wondering, picture day and long ball fundraiser.

MDtex- you said it right. Scrimmage Monday night should be fun. Not sure if they will be postponed like all other athletics.

Kids hate it and so do I. I was so pumped up to get started. Doesn't look good next week either but at least no ice.

Looks like there will not be a Saturday practice either up here in the Great White North!
