I am determined to bring some Southwestern Va flavor to this forum. GWDanville looks to be the best team in the AAA Western Valley district vs. the defending AA Peidmont District tournament champions Bassett HS. Bassett has a very solid AA team and should challenge 10 consecutive time regular season champ Tunstall this year. However, they were no match yesterday for Blake Bivens who went the distance and either struck out 15 or 16 depending on which newspaper you read. He knocked in a couple of runs too and GWD won 9-3.
Folks in the Danville area Friday can see a fun game at Dan Daniel park as GWD faces Tunstall and most likely Longwood commit Luke Simpson. Tunstall also apparently has a ss that is attracting a lot of attention but I can't remember his name. Hopefully the predicted snow flurries will hold off until after the game.
