bat speed

how do you time bat speed? also, what is considered a good bat speed time for a h.s. varsity player?

There are some devices you can spend hundreds of bucks on to find out. Or you can put a ball on a tee; hit it and have someone time that with a radar gun... but the best solution is to not worry about it: get you lots of balls and some guys that like to throw BP, and go hit a lot. Wear out a couple of tees and 4 dozen baseballs and then you'll be a better hitter: your bat speed might increase too...
Not a very good answer to your question but just don't make too much of putting a number on your bat speed.
