OK, never seen this before - watching son's game and opposing team had batters kneal down on one knee in bunt situations. Obviously they were attempting to mess with the pitcher, and did manage a couple of walks and a wild pitch. How do the rules deal with this? Does the strike zone now go all the way to the ground, or would it be the same as if the batter were in his stance? Should the ump have even allowed this?

In my case, it is a high school team - and a good one at that! Perennial contenders in the top division, and the coach is very well thought of.

I've seen the kneeling stance from more than one of their guys on more than one occasion - so it's obviously something they teach.

I just have no idea why.

So the strike zone stays where it would be if the batter was in the normal stance?
