Does any one else have a problem hitting off pitching machines in the cages that shoot the ball(yellow rubber ones) out. Becuae I dont hit well at all when i go to the cages my timing is horrible. The way the balls get to the machine is weird.

While i cant hit in these cages I hit great when im hitting real balls in my school cage in the basektball gym where its basically the same machine but its person putting the balls into the machine who acts like theyre throwing. I also hit good on the field and at games.
Also Ive heard that it not good to hit off of machines alot that it will mess you up . Does ny one here know why or if this is even true.

Ive been a long time looker of these forums and alot of people seem to really know about hitting and baseball in general so i hope you guys can help me.

Sounds like you are satisfied with your hitting...Are you?

Iam never satisfied with it. theres always something I think i could have done better but The cage thing is something that bothers me. I guess your right its point less if im hitting fine at games.
I've had that problem with machines even when someone is feeding each one with the arm. Basically, the best advice was to be post load already. I know some call it cheating, and I admit- its what I call it also. But doesn't everyone try to get an edge on the pitcher? All kidding aside, though, you need something you can time to make it more gamelike. If nothing, you must go post load, because you can't hit 90mph if you're waiting to load after release.
I wouldn't worry about how you do in the cages. My son and a bunch of his pals/teammates have been hitting in indoor winter batting leagues for years. It's entertaining and they keep swinging over the cold winter months, but it's very different from hitting live pitching. There's usually a little adjustment time at the beginning and end of each season.

One of the best hitters on the winter batting team rarely gets a ball out of the infield during season play. Conversely, one kid who struggles in the cages is a dominant hitter on the field.

Cage hitting off machines and hitting live pitching on the field are just different. Being good at one doesn't mean you are at the other.
