Friday's Games (District Games)

King George(H) 1 vs Chancellor 2
Chancellor took advantage of two King George mistakes, and the Chargers' baseball team earned a 2-1 win last night in their Battlefield District opener.
Trailing 1-0, Chancellor tied the contest when Mike Oster scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning. Ryan Greer then scored the eventual winning run when Tyler Truslow dropped a called third strike on a Chargers batter, then made a wild throw to first that sailed into right field.
Truslow gave the Foxes the early lead with an RBI double in the fourth, driving in Theo Klopsis.

James Monroe(H) vs Caroline
3/22/11 Caroline vs King William (H)
Caroline 10 King William 3
I had a chance to swing by this game for a little while on a trip back from Richmond. If this is any indication of how Caroline will play the remaining of the year we may have a giant that will be woken up in the Battlefield District. This young team impressed me. I have seen most of the write ups about some of the Caroline players but I had a chance to watch a right handed pitcher from Caroline (his last name was Daig)dissect the King William batters. While I was there he came in at the bottom of the fourth in a losing situation behind 3 to 2 and basically shutting King William down through the sixth striking out 6 and hitting a two run homer to boot. I found one article about him from 2010 season where he threw a no hitter through 5 innings (slaughter rule)against James Monroe. This kid has been flying under the radar somehow. I know one thing I am going to keep an eye on the Caroline Cavaliers in the Battlefield District. Coach Frank Dow doesn't seem to be showing everyone what he has in the press.
