#3 Ocean Lakes-7 Landstown-0 End of 3

Ocean Lakes got off to another slow start today aside from a leadoff double by Killian Strenn. Things stayed quiet in the 1st and 2nd innings for both teams. Morimando is on the hill for the 'Fins and is finding no trouble so far. In the bottom of three though the Dolphin bats woke up to put some runs on the board thanks to timely walks as well. With a runner on Kyle Robertson tripled to the right field corner for the 1st run of the ball game. Casey Bryant followed with the sac fly to give the Dolphins a 2-0 lead. After more walks Tyler Clements roped the second triple of the inning for Ocean Lakes scoring two more making the score 4-0. After striking out Allan Gibson, the Landstown starter walked Pat Ryan leading to his exit from the game. With the new arm in Tommy Wright started things off again with an rbi double then Killian Strenn scorched another double to center field scoring two more making the score 7-0. Kyle Robertson grounded out to first to end the inning.

#3 Ocean Lakes-14 Landstown-4 Final in 6
WP- S.Morimando (5-0)

Ocean Lakes ace Shawn Morimando had another complete game outing and was backed by an explosive offense from the Dolphin Bats. Killian Strenn went prefect at the plate stroking two doubles, a single and a walk en route to a 4-4 outing and also added 2 RBI's. He was not the only one to hit the ball well as Clements and Robertson both had RBI triples coming in the third inning where OL scored the first 7 of it's 14 runs. Thanks to the help of many walks from the Landstown battery the Fins capitalized when they had the oppurtunity. Though a few minor setbacks for Ocean Lakes came at the bats and speed of Cameron day and others for Landstown with 3 runs in the 5th, the Dolphins followed with 6 unanswered runs in the next two innings to finish out the game. Shawn Morimando finished the game with a walk off sacrifice fly, finishing another win for him on the bump and keeping Ocean Lakes perfect in district play. Ocean Lakes is now 8-2 (6-0).

Game Notes: In all ten games the Dolphins have played they have scored more than ten runs in five games, scored 7 or more in every game and have ten runned 4 of the 5 Beach District opponents they have played.
Offensively, they should be for real. They do have a tough part of the schedule coming up with the FC and Cox games but aside from that they should cruise through the rest of Beach play as they have already. Cox seemed a little out of it vs Kellam Wed so I don't think anyone should look into it more than it was just an off game as Cox is a good team and can play up to any level, as well the same with FC. FC though, beat up on OL last season when Lawson pitched so we might see that potential mathcup again....I believe Lawson carried a no hitter late into the game. And yes, the Beach will need to step it up come regionals, as we all saw what their top teams did to some Beach perenials in the Beach Blast.....but the season is always roller coaster....it's just who is ready more prepared for the ride.
Another side note...

PA Alumni Zach Woods ('06) pitched 6 1/3 innings of excellent ball for East Carolina vs UAB Friday night. Surrending 2 Runs, 1 Earned while striking out 8 and walking 2. Woods improves to 5-1 on the season and leads the pirates in lowest ERA and most Strike Outs. Congrats Zach! He has also been recognized as Louisville Slugger Nat'l Player of the Week and CUSA Pitcher of this week this Season.
Bayside 21 Salem 11

For Bayside:Casey King hit a Grandslam and so did Taylor Tompkins and Cody Synder also hit a 3 run homerun over 401 at Salem. The three of them went 9 for 9 with 12 rbis. Bayside had 16 hits total that game. Tommy Kane went 2 for 4 with a triple and a single and a walk and back picked a kid at second and first. Eric Evans was pitching.

For Salem: Zach Moore hit a 3 run homerun in the bottom of the 5th to make it 21 to 11 but with two outs they had a runner on first and third and the kid on first left early to try to get in a pickle to score the runner at third but eric evans threw the kid out at home and bayside won
Why would you intentionally make a call to get in a pickle.....with 2 outs, down by 10 runs to score a single run in the 5th? Even if it extends the game?

You've scored 11 already....at that point outs are really valuable...one run keeps the game going for 2 innings but you still need 9 runs! Don't trade 1 of your 7 outs for 1 of (minimum) 10 runs.

Don't get that one.
