Can we get back to the predictions and constructive talk about the upcoming season? It seems these threads have a tendency to go off to other subjects and put coaches and kids down. Lets get positive!
I have read the posts on this topic for a few years now and seems it always goes to "this team does this" and this team does that". The reality is, ALL TEAMS get together as often as they can. Baseball in this area is much different than many states that practice basically year round. Personally let the teams get the most prepared possible to show their skills and be in condition to help avoid injury. Afterall, this is for the players and they are the ones we should be concerned with.
Now, I think this may be a down year for overall talent up and down the District. That could make for one of the most competitive seasons in a long time. No clear cut choice the way I see it. There are Cox, Kellam, PA, Salem, Kempsville that could be placed in about any order.
We'll see how it goes and rest assured the outcome is decided on the field by the young men playing for the love of the game. Let's not water that down by the "he said" or "she said".

Eagleone, being a player in the beach district I totally agree with you. He constantly finds ways to lose ball games and no matter what happenes this year Kempsville will do nothing this season
Genius:
I'm not so sure I would go quite so far to say they will do nothing. They still have some pretty good talent, a good group of kids that may surprise you. They have a few kids who can hit, a strong catcher, and at least one strong pitcher. I just don't think they will be competing for the top spot.
The "bunt" is a powerful weapon!

Eagleone, I guess you misunderstood me. When I said I think Kempsville will do nothing I mean that they don't have a very good chance to go anywhere in the district. They do have some good players and will be competitive, but I think its COxs district to lose this year. The only thing I have against Shows as a coach is that he tends to play favorites and puts his players down, a perfect example is before KHS beat FC last year he told his players "we could play the best games of our lives and still lose, their that good", and "They have three or four really good players and the rest of them are just like us" it may not seem like much or like constuctive criticsm, but this is why player after player transfers from KHS.
Cox is the best team in the district and they are the team to beat. Their pitchers are unstopable with a powerful phenominal splendid offense. They're solid behind the plate and consist of almost all seniors. They beat western branch by 19 runs and seemed to be on top of their game. It should be a tight race for second though.- Staples
I hope for there sake they win, and what happened last year doesn't repeat itself. If you talk with any COX parent they expect to be at STATE......
Cox has a very good team. BUT when players and parents are talking STATE CHAMPIONSHIP before the season begins. That could mean trouble. I have seen much better teams than this Cox team not get out of the Beach district.
Cox expects to win each game one at a time. Parents need to understand getting to the AAA State Tounament is not anything like qualifying for a pee-wee AAU state bid. It is important to set big goals but anything can happen.
This season will be a very competitive one. I see Cox, FC, Kellam, and Salem battling it out. We will just have to see exactly who wants it the most. GOO LUCK EVERYONE!
