Rameriz does not make a mound appearance in FC's win over Kempsville (7-4). Berry records the win for FC, Little gets the loss for Kemps.
This sets up this weeks "Game of the Week" with Cox (3-0-1) at FC (4-1) on Friday.
Cox had a bye yesterday and should have all of its pitchers rested and ready to go. FC used 3 in Tue's win, but should have plenty of firepower left. Both teams hit the ball well and game should provide plenty of action.

COX At First Colonial on Friday, 4:00 PM
I guess the early records potentially makes the Cox/FC game the Game of the Week. Before we get too excited, does anyone remember when Cox last won a baseball game against FC? It is past time for the Falcons to step up and make this a rivalry on the diamond again. If Cox is to be a "major factor" in deciding the Beach District, this game is where it begins. Cox is coming off a bye. They will have all of their pitching available. The weather is going to be great. Should be a big crowd. I like FC at home in this one.
FC -10
COx-1
Looks by the score, it wasn't much of a game, however proved to be each teams 1st real test of the season.
With the FC win, it kinda seperates the field, PA, FC and Kellam on top, Cox in the middle and the rest somewhere else.
No real big games next week, pretty much the top guys playing against the lower guys. Its a toss up as to which game next week would be the week 4's "Game of the Week". I would expect that PA, FC, Cox, and Kellam are all favored in their games next week. Only if someone pulls off an upset, that would be sweet, but who could it be?
Any ideas?
SSBR, a couple of the top pitchers are having control problems early but look at there ERA, BA against them, K'S and Hits allowed. Both of them are at the top in the district.

3OUTSNORUNS, I think he went four innings but from what I herd FC only got 4 hits off of him and they weren't hit hard. I was told that when he threw strikes he was very tough to hit and when they hit him they didn't hit him hard. Walks and HBP hurt him and some timely hits. If you can only score 1 run your not going to win many games.
I didn't get to the game until the fourth inning, but from what I heard the starting pitcher for Cox walked 5 or 6 and hit 3 in those four innings. Seems like the same problem that he had in the Kempsville game. (he cost his team the win by walking 5 of 6 or something like that) You all know that it doesn't matter how "great" your stuff is, you have to be able to throw it over the plate. The best pitchers in this region throw strikes, he just isn't in that realm yet.
I am smart enough to know that one game doesn't make a season but you are judged by what you do and not by what people say you can do.He isn't a bad pitcher but he is NOT one the the district's best. We'll see as the season progresses.

baseballzlife, you should get your facts straight before you speak. In the Kempsville game he let up 1 hit (infield hit)with 8 K's 1 BB through 5 innings, in the sixth he walked the first three batters than Conroy decided to take him out, than Kempsville scored 5 runs. In the bottom of the sixth Cox scores 2 runs to tie it. Now if I were the coach I would have considered taking him out after the first walk and definitely after the second walk. The relief pitcher comes in and let's up a few hits a couple of walks, a couple of errors. he ends up giving up 2 earned runs. A blown call my the umpire with a batters interference with the catcher throwing to third when he never through the ball effected the outcome of the came. I wouldn't call that costing his team the game. Unless you are at the games you shouldn't talk about players.

In the FC game he had control problems but in 4 innings he let's up 4 hits and three of them were weak. No one has hit the ball hard against him. When he regains his control he will be ok.
SSBR,

Enough people have seen the young man pitch to know that he is a good pitcher. I don't understand why you or anybody would have to put a negitive post about a player on the board. Before you post the next time put yourself in the players position. These kids all give there hearts on the field and having bad games is part of life.

Doc,

These guys need to list what there sons have done this year before they can talk about another kid.

DOC, I haven't mentioned any players name in any of my posts nor do I have a son that plays in the Beach District. I "bird dog" and I've seen some very good players come through the Beach District and have passed it on to people at the next level. My intention is not to be negative towards anyone. ough people have seen the young man pitch to know that he is a good pitcher. This is my final post regarding beach district "Game of the Week". I thought it would be fun, bbbuuuutttt, there is always someone wanting to start an argument about umps, players, coaches, out come of game, or something. You just ain't happy unless something gets started. Umps make mistakes, get over it, players have bad days, get over it, coaches make bad decisons, get over it, team umpty beats team so and so, it happens, get over it.
If you want to argue a point, start your own discussion thread.
Youout, outta here.
