If you live in the area, take a drive on up to Malibu this weekend and catch a game between Pepperdine and Coastal Carolina. It would be interesting to hear anyone's thoughts on the game e.g., east coast versus west coast style of play, etc.

Also, let us know if Pamela Anderson ( a huge Pepperdine baseball fan) happens to show up Big Grin

Thanks I will have to check out their schedule and see if we can get over there. They are only 30 minutes from our house. PA son used to play for Malibu High and she showed up at an away game we had against them a couple of years ago. It is pretty common for famous people's kids to play ball so they are pretty much left alone.

Thanks for the heads up...
Hopefully the weather holds up? There is a chance of rain in So Cal this weekend, but I'm sure they'll get all three of their games in. I haven't been to Pepperdine (drove by a couple times), but I hear it's a beautiful campus and the baseball field has amazing scenery...including PA. Cool

BOF is correct. One thing about kids playing athletics in So Cal, it's really not uncommon to see celebrities and former athletes at the events watching their children compete. They feel the same pressure that we do watching their kids, and they're into the games just as much as you and I.

During my son's frosh year, he came in from the OF to close a tournament game against Palm Desert. The entire game all the parents (including me) continuously stared over at this guy standing directly behind the backstop cheering for his son's team. I wanted to go over and say hello and let the guy know that he was my favorite player growing up, but I didn't want to bother him. Like I said, my son came into the game in the 7th with a runner in scoring position and the son of my Favorite player as a kid was at the plate. My son didn't know who he was, but was pretty pumped up, and drilled the kid in the back (not on purpose). He struckout the next batter to end the game, but by this time I really didn't want to go over and say "hello Mr. Garvey, you were hands down my favorite player as a kid, and this is my son...yes, the one that just pegged your son a few minutes ago!" It turns out, I should have said hello. A year later, our kids played together and hung out for a few summer tournaments, and Garv is still a very nice man.
My son's college team played @ Pepperdine last season. Absolutely beautiful campus and stadium. We were there when they were hosting their Junior Day. They had Pam Anderson throw out the 1st pitch. Steve Garvey and Wayne Gretsky were in the stands. You could see our players really perk up when Pam entered the Waves dougout. They also have a fantastic scoreboard!
