O.K., enough bragging. Seriously, I mention all of this because he chose Rochester over the University of Chicago, Tufts, Tulane, and Missouri.
When "TRhit" was doing showcases, our son attended the event in Binghamton, NY. My son and me did the East coast tour of the Ivies. We stopped at Tufts as well. However, at the showcase he was seen by Coach Reina of Rochester. Our son didn't have any contact or knowledge of Rochester until about a week after the event when he received information from Coach Reina. We investigated all of the schools and the curiculum our son was interested in initially, Biomedical Engineering. Now we had to look into UR.
Our son wanted to play baseball, right away, as a freshman. Pretty sure of himself, I thought. But he was given that opportunity, and at a program that was rising into the national limelight. Coach Reina was broadening his efforts to bringing in players from all across the country. Our son visted campus, and Coach Reina picked him up at the airport. Continued contact, on a weekly basis, really impressed our son, but not from the other schools. He felt "wanted" and knew he would get his degree from a fantastic research university and medical center, Strong Memorial Hospital. Lookup on Rochester's web site under research and under the medical center, and you'll find some amazing research accomplishments. Pandemic Bird Flu and Papiloma Vacine (sp).
O.K., so I've given a parents response to your inquiry. However, if you are interested in UR, and even visiting, e-mail Coach Reina. I'm sure you will get an invitation to visit campus. Who knows you may run into my son. He's working on a research project with one of his professors again this summer, and maybe I'll be around to give you a parents tour of all the fine eating establishments. Have you ever had a "garbage plate?" Fantastic!!
Good luck.
