best 2nd baseman

I'm sure you'll be reading about the top 2nd basemen on this board, many of whom are already well known. I'll throw out a name of one who isn't well know. Highland Pk. Junior, Josh Tolan. Hardest worker during the offseason and it has paid off. He's hitting .450 with an OBP of .750 batting leadoff for the team's first 7 games. Kid can field, obviously hit and is a 6.85 sec runner. I predicted a breakout year for Tolan, and so far he isn't disappointing.

There is a junior 2nd baseman at Lake Park, Andy Sawicki. Just had a 5 for 6 game with HR and 5 RBI against Schaumbug. Played as sophomore last year on varsity. Looking for a big year from him. Lake Park will be participating at the Flyers Tournament this upcoming weekend in Schaumburg.

Did sawacki play for the rolling meadows travelers?

yes, he played with Allen, Henning, Silva, Laing on RM.

well im sure those are good second baseman, but so far i had 4 games at my school seton academy. its located in south holland. well i am the varsity second baseman. i am hitting .500 right now in the season. my last game i was 2 for 3 with an rbi. i am pretty good. later in the season i should have more solid numbers, but for right now i dont cause we only had 4 games. but so far im doin good.

I would have to nominate Sophomore Alex Beckman of Batavia. I'm not just saying this as a player from Batavia. This kid can just flat out play. He is hitting .714 on the season through nine games with 1 homer in the leadoff spot for the bulldogs. He has quick hands at the plate and amazing soft hands at second. Not only can he play, but he makes everybody around him better. He really knows the game. Watch out for him this year and the next couple years to come. He is only going to get better.

My young man at 2nd is off to a tremendous start. .410, 2 DOUBLES, 2 TRIPLES, 1 HR and 6 Stolen Bases. Fantastic hands and he and our SS are turning more than one DP per game at the present. His name is Aaron Conway, he is a Junior and he is getting interest from several D-1 schools.

I know some of you might say this is just talking up Notre Dame but they have a second baseman named brian cusack and he has a great glove and great hands and is hitting the ball tremendously.

best 2nd baseman? you can only judge a second baseman by hitting...if hes not doing his job for wherever he is batting in the order, hes not a good 2nd baseman, ive played short for two years, and got moved to second this year for varsity, and there is no way for a second baseman to make an error, only job is to turn the DPs quickly, which i have not seen ANY suburban schools do...best 2nd baseman ive seen, Marvin from Clemente.

2 to 3 ground ball double plays a game are routine in the old SICA West, with Sandburg, Lockport, JT, Andrew and the two Lincoln Way schools.

I dissagree with your idea of what a GREAT second baseman should possess. I do agree however that Marvin Sanchez is hands down the best 2nd baseman in the city, or State!

I saw three 2nd baseman I liked from this weekend, my man Branisel from NC, Marvin Sanchez from Clemente, and Matt Kleifges (sp?) from Benet. Marvin needs to improve on his plate discipline and Kleifges has red eyed contacts, i'm a bit unfamiliar with this new concept, can anyone explain this new concept? thanks

Nike makes the red contacts (they make other colors, too) and offer a free pair if you go to their website for the coupon and make an optometrist appointment.

They (the contacts) are supposed to make the ball stand out from the background. NCAA football schools have been using them for a few seasons.

a good second baseman should be hitting for avg. and is feilding good.

Brian Dunne of Lyons Township is a two year starter at 2nd Base. In 2005, Dunne hit 365. Always a player that you can be counted on in the clutch, last weekend, Dunne opened the scoring against OPRF with a homer. Also, the #1 student in his class.

Youre sick you obviously havent seen many suburban games.Double plays are turned all the time.Lake Park turns at least one per game. Against St Charles East,McKeon and Sawicki turned 4 in 1 game.Alot of great middle infield combinations on suburban teams.Good luck with youre season.

I would rate the Benet 2b Matt K. first, then Dunne of lt. and then Sanchez of Clemente third.
