I had great experiences as a player (many years ago)by simply keeping active in a lot of other sports. Particularly wrestling due to the flexibility and core muscle strength it developed. Football as well but that was more along the lines of developing power and explosiveness.

These days however its much harder to play more than one sport in High School unless the seasons are at complete opposite times.

I used to keep doing the exercises I did for wrestling all year round. Push ups, pull ups, leg lifts, sit ups, a lot of lunges and running as well as a good stretching routine do wonders for any athletes performance in every sport. I wouldn't recommend too much heavy weight training for baseball specifically due to the fact the fastest growing areas of muscle are often those areas close to the joints. This can limit range of motion in the hips and shoulders particularly, which is of utmost importance in all around baseball play.
