Parker Bangs was a catcher at Scotland HS here in NC. He was recruited as a catcher and big power guy by SC coming out of HS. But he ended up on the hill.

One of my favorites is a young guy in our showcase program "Wood Myers" a rising 9th grader who plays up on one of our teams. Remember the name because he is going to be a bigtime player. His brothers name is Steel he is a rising Soph at VMI.

I'm gonna stick with this guy as having the best name for a pitcher. He only hit 34 batters over his 13 year MLB career, but with a name like Plunk, you just know guys had it in the back of their mind when stepping in to face him

I did in fact hear young Jack was pitching in the Cape Code league this summer....

But I'm fairly certain you didn't know that HaverGrandad was an semi-regular ensemble player on the old radio show for a couple of years back in the day.

I was once given a set of MiLB player cards, and one of them was named Rich Batchelor.

I always thought he'd be very popular with the ladies! (Though he did have those thick, military issue-type eye glasses.)

Unfortunately, I don't think he got rich in baseball, I don't remember him ever making it to the bigs.

Rich Batchelor did end up pitching for the Cardinals a few years ago. And if I remember correctly, as my wife would comment on ugly players, "Good thing he plays baseball."

A few that from the high school ranks in recent years: Brooks Pounders, Stetson Allie, and Ralston Cash. All great names

There's a young man by the name of Coley Crank and he really could crank the ball when he was 15 and playing C for one of the NorCal teams. I remember thinking at the time, "I wish I had named my kid Coley Crank." He is now a sophomore at Michigan.

lol. no lie about this one. Heard one of the opposing team's coache yell lets go "name" when the guy came up to the plate. you gotta love it.
