New rules does not mean a lack of going around them.

Bigger sweet spots would be one result.

These are American engineer's with a new challenge, they will find a way to build a better mouse trap with the rules applied. It's the American way.

While I do agree that strong hitters will make adjustments & hit with different bats, balance & size of sweet spot are still big +'s of a quality bat. On our local board, a 14U coach posted the other night how he'd put his entire (AA) team in -3 RipIts. being the most heavily endweighted -3 bat avail today, & most of these boys first -3 experience, I'd bet most will struggle against good pitching to get the ball out of the infield.

Double edge sword...

Son is a

But insisted as a on getting his Rip-It Prototype II replaced...3 hrs and the end cap completely cracked in half! The good news...should quickly arrive tomorrow, after ordering it yesterday from the manufacturer... On his ...and their 1st game on Monday!

He is a power hitter, used BBCOR & Wood all Fall. But, there is also the mental aspect thing with Baseball. If he thinks he'll perform better with it... He probably will. Like when he was hitting HR's & GS's with his old Easton, last Spring... Who's bat do you think the next guys, following him in the line-up, went to grab & bat with?!!

Last May & June, I watched quite a few decent 14 & 15 Majors hitters struggle with the first Rip-Its, the ones that were deemed "too hot" & were banned. Kids that were hitting bombs with better balanced BESR -3's. The group I spoke of earlier are faaaaaaaar from solid AAA-Majors hitters, not a power hitter in the bunch. Its unfortunate, but they will struggle.

At $89.00 shipped my son is giving the plasma a try.
No game use yet, only bp. But he and all the other players really like it so far. Time will tell, but at 89 bucks it hard not to try.

Update-The plasma did not make the complete HS season, purchsed Jan 2012. It deformed yesterday, bent in a lopsided way. Mostly game use only, and no misuse. I will contact Rawlings and see if it's still has any warranty. Hope I can find the proof of purchase.
Rip IT Prototype:

Yesterday during our JV game saw a Rip It 32-29 lose it's end cap. After the hard ground ball was hit to the opponents 2nd baseman the end cap ended up half way down the 3rd base line! The end cap was intact. Just popped off? The bat was just recently purchased and according to what was said it had less then 50 swings on it. I would avoid the Rip It BBCOR until a fix for their end cap fiasco is found.

Same thing, except 3 swings and end cap cracked clear thru. Purchased & replaced in early March. Son still wanted one. Same size too. Spoke with company. They were aware of problem. Stopped shipments, returned to manufacturer to solve problem. New shipments mid March were to have repaired the end caps cracking, popping off intact & inside rattling noise. Replacement bats shipped out first. The company was great!
No problems so far with the bat from the revised, new shipment. Son likes the bat, so far.
Heard of another having end cap coming off. They reglued it themselves. No more problem with it.
