I have to agree with Soxnole. SIU has been the only consistent program year in and year out in the state of Illinois. Callahan has done a great job over the last decade.

UIC plays in a weaker conference, but to their credit they get the job done most years and usually compete but not win any games at the regional.

Bradley, well they've had a couple of decent years but their about to lose some quality players after this year.

Ill State, young team that got off to a horrible start. Next year will have to be the year with Anetsberger off to the pros after that. Little Brownlie has done a super job of coming up to Chicagoland and recruiting some of the best HS prospects.

Western Ill, Hyman can't decide who the heck he wants to play. There's no consistent line up and the pitching is less than desirable.

Northern Ill, after a horrendous year last year they look a little better this year. Rumor has it that Mathey needs to finish strong to keep the reigns.

I'd love to see a few Illinois teams make the regional on a regular basis, but let's get serious we're north of the Mason-Dixon line here!! lol

Good luck Illinois teams!
Even with a nephew on the Illinois team, I'm not gonna pick them as the best, because they're simply not. His Big 10 champ ring from last year looks nice though. And he earned the win in yesterday's rain shortened game.

I think it would be hard to go against Bradley right now with their pitching. And I'm an SIU alum! Lots of scouts Friday night watching Bradley's pitcher at Redbird Field.

P.S. If I may add a little more nephew promotion, there is a short video feature on the Illinois baseball homepage about my nephew and Brian Blomquist from Glenbard North. fightingillini.com

As Far as DeMarco,by looking at the stats he was ISU's hottest hitter to start the season. He was around .375 something for awhile. Your guess is as good as mine why he isnt playing/performing much lately. Something happend there, the low average may have something to do with spot starting and pinch hitting. He has a low number of ab's compared to the rest of the team. Be nice if someyone could give us an update, from what i have seen he can really swing it and i wish him the best of luck in getting it back. None of the ISU Freshman are having great seasons offensively though stalowy and dubler are in the mid .200's but duber has 3 hr's. I know ISU played a tough non conf schedule. that was great class with quality kids , i wish them all the best.
