To all the high school ball players, wishing all of you the best, except when you play my son's team (smile). Hope that you acquire a lot of fond memories as you chase your dream. Hope that along the way you learn some value lessons like being a team player, the value of hard work, discipline, respect, how to pursue a goal and passion, among other things. Lets get it started!!!
Good luck to all the boys hitting the fields today...whether its your first or your last high school season, enjoy every day, work your tail off, play hard, be a good team mate, be coachable and have a blast...don't be so hard on yourself. The winning and losing will take care of itself.

To the parents...all of the above apply to you too...whether this is your first or your last rodeo, this is a time to enjoy watching, cheering and supporting your kids doing what they love. Try not to get caught up in the playing time, win/loss, coaching decisions, etc...Just savor the experience. There's nothing like high school baseball.

Heck, I take it as an insult if I don't come close to getting fired every year from taking too much time off to go watch DD Jr play! Now that he's playing in college I might actually get the boot!...but one thing is for sure, my last breath won't be spent uttering the words, "I wish I would have spent more time at the office". Let's go watch some baseball!

Amen to that DoubleDay! The kid and I have had some great "Remember Whens" this week. Hoping to get into some trouble at work for the Sr. season.
