If we're going back 5 years I would include Brian Wilson.

My goodness, not many kids from this way get drafted out of high school, right? And then have a chance to play for a national power like LSU...and then get drafted again!

AAA with the Giants after recovering from TJ.

Mary, I agree with you about the others.

WHat are you looking for?

There are many, many kids who go to good D1 programs from NH. The ones mentioned so far have gone to exceptional programs AND have been drafted.

No google search needed to talk about the State of NH. Quintal is an outfielder(captain) at Maine. He is joined on that team by a pitcher from Dover, Troy Martin. I think they are both seniors.

Bryan Towler is the starting catcher at Marist. He played with a talented group from Winnacunnet...Clifford, McDonnell, McKenna but I think he is the only one playing college ball.
Was their starting catcher as a frosh when McKenna tossed the gem against Nashua for the STate title!

Austin Wasserman(Nashua) is at UConn. He was the Gatorade POY in 2002.

The boys at URI, Nestor, Perkins, Sullivan(he may gave graduated) have all done well for themselves.

Greg Mason from Central is at St Josephs in PA.

Lee Rattigan is at Richmond. Went to play the outfield but I see he pitched quite a bit last year and was successful.

And lets not forget Hagerty, who is at Brown.

TRhit...good question also but it just seems that over the past 5 years or so that NH has made the jump to big time college baseball. I am just hoping that NH can now make the jump to big time pro ball on a more consistant basis. There have obviously been guys in the recent past who have done NH proud in por ball. Just wondering who the guys this year may be.
I have been following New England pretty closely for the last 7 or 8 years.

I am not sure I agree with your assessment that NH has made the jump to big time college ball?
and I am sure our numbers do not show that we have made huge strides in the pro ranks. Smile

We have some early signings which may indicate three or four kids COULD go in the draft but that is not what has happened in the recent past. Cool I am always bothered by suggestion that X amount of players have a good chance to be drafted when in fact they really do not. Confused TRhit is right...the focus should be on college ball since the other option is really a stretch.

Your profile says: Just a baseball person who knows some stuff

Why don't you share here what you know and who you think will get drafted from the '06 class.

20 dad

yo yo yo knows what he/she wants to say but may not know how to go about it? Asking about Northern Essex and NH players? Knows Sam Fuld.

I'd really like to hear who he/she feels is draft material out of the '06 class. That's getting a bit young for me to know but I would like to hear.

Nolan, Centiempo, Lapointe. Those are the boys
who have signed early. What do you think?

i have been watching class l baseball for the last 5 years and it seems to me the talent level has dropped in those 5 years as i'm sure you could say about the last ten years .i think nh has some very good ball players only a few that i think could get drafted imo.we have quite a few going to big d1 schools.and that helps us get noticed on a national level.chill you are very well versed in names, i watch a ball game and remember what a kid did or a great play but never a name.i allways stay away from the people in the stands so i don't get names often.and i don't recall any really dominating pitchers, but the centiempo boy should have a strong year,we have a sophmore in ports. that should have a good year,by the time he is a senior he should dominate .the thing about high school baseball you never know when a kid is going to come out smoking. so you never know.

my comment was NH has done a nice job moving on to some D1 programs in the last few years...more so than in the past. The stuff I know, well I am glad you asked. Locke is obviously a done deal for pro ball although he doesnt have a true second pitch witch could hurt him. Cientippo is good but I don't think he will get drafted high enough for him to sign becuase of the amount of money he is getting from St. John's. The other guy I know about is a sleeper but could make quick moves in pro ball...I will keep that name to myself for right now just becuase I didn't like your tone in that last note. The guys who have done NH proud in the recent past...who won the NL Cy YOung this year?
jayson whitehouse is a story that should make us all stop and think how fragile life can be. the kid is a player, finaly realizes his dream of being drafted.and playing at the next level. bang he is diagnosed with cancer, talk about one extreme to the other.he is now cancer free and moving forward with his life.and he is a great young man who i am proud to say i know.in my opinion one of the better players to come out of nh in the last five years.
20dad,
Can't agree with you more about what happened to Jayson. Had a chance to talk to him the other day At HR USA. He looks good, Back to around 195lbs but struggling with the eye issue. He is working with Ryan with the kids at the clinic being held there and I think it will be a good thing for him to stay around the game until he is ready to try and come back. His spirits are high and from what I got during our conversation can't wait to get back into the game. Diffinatly one of the better players in last five years!

I know that I have probably left off some who belong on this list and if I have I am deeply sorry! This list was made by me just to state that there are some very talented ball-players coming out of our little northern state of NH and I like many other proud NH Baseball people are very honored to have watched or known these talented Players! Go Get Em! Granite Staters!
great list bball. and i understand jayson might coach the aau team out of hr usa.that would be a win win for everyone.it will keep jayson in the game and he has alot to give those kids and its someone they can relate to as they know he was drafted. good luck to him and all the granite state boys still playing.i remember someone who post's on this web say..........
play every game as if its your last some day you'll be right. makes you think.
I have yet to commite anywhere. I am looking a lot more towards a juco then a four year school. Reasoning is my dream has always bene to play pro baseball. Who knows, maybe i'll get my chance. It's really tough to belive anything anybody says about the draft but right now what I have heard is that I am a 1-5 round guy but it does not matter me me where i go or the money. I just want to play ball. I guess i'll drafted whereever the team feels i deserve to be taken
great answer jeff,i know school isn't for everyone.and that goes against this whole website i know but its true.it's also true that you have to do things you don't want, to get where you want to go.i'm sure you'll do just fine.have you had alot of interest from schools?i'm sure youve heard it before but keep all your options open.

bcball32 i have heard andy gale isn't at unc any more.i think a florida school?maybe rumors.
a lot of different schools from all over the country have shown interests. I really thought about Vanderbilt for a while becasue my dad's boss's daughters went there and they loved it and said it was beauitful. I am about 70% sure I am gonig to sign a letter of intent to Seminole Community College just outsdie Orlando. A lot of people have been saying "oh go here" or "you'll do great here" but i think the most important thing is to do what is best for me. Afterall, I am the one that has to go to school here or there, not them
Hi Jeff. I read this post because I am a former new englander and I now live, coach and instruct in central florida. Seminole c.c. is a great baseball school full of kids that have been either drafted, D-1 opportunities and other college opportunities as well. A lot of these draft picks didn't go high enough and want to enhance their value. Some of the D-1 kids know that they were going to sit, so now they're playing in div.1 Juco. Its very competitive, great weather, great facilities, great exposure and at least 50 games. Coaching there is very good. There are many summer opportunities as central florida has begun a summer college league. Of course there is the new england summer league that is very good. Just some insight for you. Good luck young man and happy new year.

Coachric
