Perfect Game does a very good job with the national events.

Locally, the best events for exposure consist of invite only type of events as well as live games.

You can spend 175.00 for 12 pitches or take a round of BP, run a 60 yd. dash, IF/OF and sit around 6 hours and get a t-shirt where anyone who has the 175.00 can be part of the showcase but, the exposure might not be there due to the diluted talent. Most college coaches and scouts generally know how each showcase is conducted ahead of time.

IMO, the best events in IL are...

Super 60 Showcase-Jan/Feb
Stevenson Showcase-June
Silver & Black-June
Plainfield Showcase-June
Area Code Tryouts-July
Midwest Classic Baseball Tournment-July/August
Pitch and Hit Club Showcase-October

I wouldn't put the cart ahead of the horse as far as exposure & looking to be discovered on a national basis before being discovered locally.

UK- I think you are spot on with the IL stuff.

As a Dad who has attended many PG events, they are all hit or miss IMO. If you go to Jupiter in the Fall, nothing tops that exposure. The other stuff is all hit or miss IMO.

We are down here playing in ATL now and the competition is great but the games are all over the area. The other day we drove 45 minutes to a field. Who is going to come watch that? Granted we are an 18 year old team but I saw kind of the same thing the previous two years with the 17's.

If you are at the Cobb complex there are many scouts there but ... if your kid doesn't pitch there you won't get a lot of exposure. If you play there later in the week during a tourney many of the recruiters have left by then.

The biggest thing is make yourself better and eventually someone will see you.

The second best event I have seen for exposure is the AZ fall classic. Centrally located (Peoria spring training complex), lots of people watching, and the format is unique. After the 6th batter the inning stops. No "winner" it is about the exposure.
I'm speaking in general here and not towards any particular parent/student athlete...

Another thing parents and student-athletes have to do is be honest with themselves as far as whether or not they are talented enough to benefit from showcases. The people who charge for showcases probably haven't seen your son play nor would they be honest and upfront if they thought he would not benefit by being here.

Kids know whether or not they are one or two of the best guys on the team as that might be the most on most HS squad that would benefit from attending a showcase for a baseball scholarship(there are exceptions as New Trier a few years ago as well as Prairie Ridge 2 years ago with a handful of D-1 kids each).

I don't mean to be blunt or anything like that, but the majority of HS athletes won't get that scholarship opportunity.
