Chad Kreuter has been terminated...2 weeks before school starts. With a new AD, Pat Haden, he apparently made it clear he was not happy with the results and made this change even though school is pending and players can still sign with MLB for another 7 or so days. Southern Cal has a number of players who were drafted and likely would have been drafted higher.
I guess this is another illustration of why players are often told to choose the school and not the coach when they sign the NLI.
Of course it is another illustration of the importance of winning and the impact of not winning. From the timing of this decision and the presence of the new AD, the expectations will be considerably higher for every player, I would think.
I am not sure which is more of a surprise, replacing the head coach 2 weeks before school starts or Cal State Northridge which still has not hired a head coach, a few weeks before school starts.
