Over my last two starts I have had a blood blister form under the nail on the middle finger of my throwing hand. It is along the inside of my nail, and goes about 1/4 of the way across my finger. The blister formed after I was on vacation for a week, and went a week and a half between starts. I have had the blister for about a week and a half, and it got worse after starting the second game which was this Friday. Does anyone have any advice on how to treat and prevent this from happening again?

Blood blister exactly where you are talking about is very common. Over time you will develop a calus and the problem will become rare.

I've had them, pitchers on my staffs have had them, not all guys get them. It's just the friction you create while throwing/imparting spin.

Experiment w/ lentgh of you nail on that finger.

If it happens during the game, it is ok to sterilize a needle an a pop it. It may be annoying but can be pitched through. If it bothers you so much that you feel it really affects your pitching then come out of the game.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They come and go....very common....You will figure out how you handle it the best.....everyone is different....
bags....i recently experienced the same situation as you, the first time i got it, it was annoying but i pitched through it, and it naturally popped w/o me noticing after the game

the next start i got another one, and again i just pitched through it and this one didnt go away for another day or two

and finally after the last start it calised over and i didnt get one

like the post above said, its natural and can be pitched through

***note- mine wasnt as big as yours sounds too be, mine was a a centimeter or two long just on the side of my middle finger, fingernail
