I am really shocked to hear that something like this would happen in 2012. But I am learning that today things never cease to amaze me anymore.

It is interesting to learn that there were only 2 accredited Umpire schools in the first place.

When you think about it, there isn't a great amount of guys who grow up with a goal of being an an umpire. I think I'm the only one I know of who chose an umpiring career over playing.
Wow! Evans says the punishment was too harsh, but in another statement he is quoted saying...

Evans told the Times. "We're a close-knit family, and sometimes our closeness allows us to say things or do things that we wouldn't say to other people. But no question about it, it was in poor taste."

Well Mr. Evans, yes it was in poor taste... and whether anyone can hear or see you does not make it OK. Apparently the punishment was well suited.

You don't wanna know. I've lived here 30 years. It is nuts.

I got you beat by 6 years and you got that right!!!!

I am not shocked, most of FL is not as diverse as Miami metro area, or as tolerant.
That was about as stupid as the Marine snipers posting that picture of them under an SS flag.

Failure to understand history leads to these kinds of jokes. What is particularly sad is that no one in the group, especially someone with the name of Klein (a traditionally Jewish name) would have wondered if this tasteless display might have been over the top.

And at a bowling alley?
