1st&3rd - an oldie that I enjoyed was "You Gotta Have Wa" about Japanese baseball. The same author (name escapes me at the moment) wrote "The Meaning of Ichiro" more recently. Both are good books.
A book about a year in the life of a baseball agent called "License to Deal" by Jerry Crasnick from BA & ESPN is a good read. It was just released this last Spring.
Each of those already listed are terrific reads. Others I like a lot: "Sandy Koufax,A Lefty's Legacy", "The Boys of Summer." I try and read the Boys of Summer every year. I just love that book. "The Teammates:A portrait of friendship". A wonderful story about teammates visiting Ted Williams when he was critically ill. One I have not read but came highly recommended by a friend who is a broadcaster for a major league team is the recent "Three nights in August." Said it is a great read and very insightful.
Just bought "Ball Four" for my son's Christmas stocking. Figure he's 15 years old now so he won't be permanently damaged by all the shenanigans Bouton reported.
The Last Best League is one of the best baseball books I've ever read...and I have read 100's! Great description of the Cape Cod League, and a very inspirational book for all players, parents, coaches, and baseball fans.
