The students at Central High School in Manchester are having a little fun with
the Division Series...

It seems that their principal is a New Yorker.
The students just stole his prize Yankee trinket
which sits on his desk at school, and put together a ransom note for it...with demands.

Obviously the "Curse" lives.

The only good things about being in AZ are;

~ Kim isn't here anymore and,
~ You don't have to stay up 3AM to watch them blow it.

Although ya' gotta' love that bunt. It reminded us of the last play in Major League.

It appeared the Sox were all trying to hit 3 run HR's with no one on base after the 5th inning.

Grady's move in the 8th might mean the end of his managerial days in Boston. They absolutely needed to get a run right there. He had these choices...
Nixon versus Rincon(who was very off that night)
McCarty versus Bradford(who he's seen many times while playing with him)
Merloni versus Bradford
Adrien Brown versus Bradford

How he came to the rationalization that Adrien Brown made the most sense is beyond me. Plus, when Ortiz walked in the 8th, he should have been pinch run for. He was actually running on the pitch where Mueller doubled. Anyone on that bench would have scored on that play. There's no way Ortiz should have been out there in the 8th. You have to get that run in. It's that simple. If I were Theo, I'd be praying that Torre says "see ya" to the Yanks. Even if he's not around for the Sox to go after, there are plenty of others that would make me feel alot better than having Grady around.

When they had Arroyo up in the 4th or 5th I thought that was the way to go. He has impressed me. We will see today:
Lilly 4.34 ERA vs. Lowe 4.47 ERA
Lilly's only other playoff experience has been his blown save and L from Game 4 last year...
Definitely something to prove.

The "book" on Grady has been just as hot and cold as the speculation about Torre...Love him one minute, question everything the next...

I have been a Yankee fan since 1976...with only a few detours along the way. If they can't win I would like to see the A's finally finish the deal...Go Clemens

Part of me really wants to see the Red Sox make it this year. I went to school in Boston in the seventies. I suffered through the Dent and Buckner episodes. BUT, there's something about this team that just doesn't quite get me pumped. They don't seem to have that spark... maybe it's the mullets or something. (Is CMT carrying these games?)

The Cubs and Twins have the spark. I think that would be an exciting World Series.
As bizarre a game as I have ever witnessed.

My son was at the game...so TROT winning it was great.

What you couldn't witness...was the fact that some Red Sox players <who were standing on the top of the dugout stairs the entire game> had taped letters on the back of their warm-ups...Spelling Lilly...Boston Brass in not amused. Could make for interesting "antics" in todays Game 4.

You are right...Great pitching.
Where is the best offense in baseball?
Is Oakland pitching that good?
Or is the Oakland defense/baserunning responssible for the W?

The excitement comes from all these unexpected circumstances...
...a bunt from the A's to win it. IRONY
...a huge double from Byrnes in Game 2. WHO?
...the errors in Game 3, the non-interference call, touching home plate?, and a ph homer from Trot.
...losing Hudson to an injury one inning into the game, a replacement catcher going 3-4.
...the big hitters for both teams not hitting and having others step up.
...Ortiz 0-16 then driving in the go ahead run.
...Williamson pitching $money$ when they needed him.
...All the nice little boy haircuts...
What will tonight bring??...Expect the unexpected.

seniormom...

David Halberstam was quoted in the Globe not too long ago saying "The Red Sox did it to my father...and now they're trying to do it to me!"

This was not a series for the faint of heart...
And the next one won't be either.

Hope Damon is ok...That collision was impossible to watch on replay.

What a GREAT series!!! applaude I just can't wait for the next round!

And, Chill, you are right about that collision. The announcers kept blabbing on about how "difficult" it was to watch the replay....as they replayed it over and OVER and OVER again! Frown Heavens! They nearly had to wheel me out of my family room with a concussion! fish

SOX-CUBS!!?? "Expect the unexpected."

Is this heaven?...
This is such a great time to be from the Northeast...2 great teams playing for a bid to the final dance...the Red Sox have generated a commraderie that has been absent since the Pats went all the way...it is a nice time to walk the streets of Beantown... greenjump..
So thankful that Johnnie Damon is well and will hopefully be playing on Saturday as he has been such a viable player on this team...and that is what the Sox are... a team...they collectively have had a contribution to their success thus far and show their enthusiasim by being genuinely happy for each other... whether they win or lose it has been a pleasure to watch them

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Catchermom03,
I'd have to agree with you on the Team aspect for the Sox. Never have I seen a bunch of guys truly pulling for each other day in and day out. It reminds me of when the Pats won the Superbowl and they were introduced as a team. How can you not love these guys. Wouldn't it be great for baseball to have the Sox and Cubs in the world series.
What an amazing bunch of games throughout the post season so far. As my son said last night, it's like if you miss one inning of any of these games you might miss the most exciting baseball you'll ever see!

Agree with the BoSox team effort. Likewise the Cubs. The Yankees always have that spark. It seems like everybody is "Yea! The [Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs] are still going!" and nobody is "Alright! Go Marlins!". Of course, everybody loves I-Rod. Gonzalez is great, Becket is a terrific young pitcher, etc. But it's always on an individual basis, not a team basis, from a fan perspective.
