A deputy sheriff was shot two days ago by illegal’s carrying AK47s. Where was the major media coverage of that? A rancher who had complained multiple times of illegal’s not only stealing from him but also killing his cattle was killed last fall filming illegal’s by an illegal. Where was the major media coverage? Today, one gentleman described how an illegal walked in to an ice cream parlor and stabbed to death his 3 year old niece. He represents some 500 individuals who have had loved ones killed by illegal’s. Essentially they aren't important. My Wife just discovered her grandfather's and mothers immigration papers. They came to America legally and through a long tedious process to learn English and assimilate in to our society. I believe that is what makes America special in that it provides the opportunity for the American Dream. I am in favor of legal immigrations. I despise illegal immigration. I despise that for this I'll be considered a racist since I dare to speak out in defense of the U.S. Constitution and our nation’s sovereign borders. I hope and pray daily that Jihadist don’t discover that the easiest way for them to enter America armed and dangerous is to come across the border from Mexico. Whey they do realize that, God help America.

Regarding any sports athlete. Go ahead and make this political. I'm waiting for the silent majority to rise up. When they do, ...

Count me as one who is rising up!

Am I reading this right?
Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, China and Saudi Arabia are the countries that some posters, who enjoy rights of free speech and rights to post on this site, which of course are suppressed and controlled in each of those, want to emulate for National Policy in the United States?

On one thread, posters want less government.
On this issue, the same posters want more and a very different government. Well, since it is fair in other threads to post about the dangers of getting what you asked for in Government, where does it end if our border policies emulate China, Saudi Arabia or North Korea?
infielddad - you have raised great questions about these isssues.

The fear I have is that our system of social welfare cannot withstand the onslaught of people who may wish to exploit it. I can certainly understand why people would want to in fact do that. All I ask is that foreign nationals go through the same procedures (legal immigration) my great grand parents went through to give me the wonderful life I have led.

I think the opposition to this law is that people fear that racial biases will be employed to enforce this law. I think our government has done a great job ensuring that no 90 year grandmothers are boarding planes with a bomb but we can't quite figure out how to keep the bombers from boarding planes? Confused

There has to be a balance here imho. Perhaps all people should have to produce citizenship papers when interacting with our government. Perhaps that would remove the racial sensitivity issues. Another burden on law abiding citizens but I think producing a driver's license or ID card that proves citizenship is not too much to ask.

In the other thread, perhaps constitutional changes need to be considered to reduce the incentive to cross the border illegally and produce a naturally born citizen.

CD,
Right there with you on the importance of the issue and the need for solutions to issues that have not been addressed on a National scale for far too long.
My concern is the process of trying to amend the Constitution and 14th amendment will be long and divisive. Frankly, I question if it can be done and even if it can, quicker action is needed on a National scale.
I for one am never going to look to China, Saudia Arabia or North Korea for anything. As you do, I think the issue needs to be elevated for discussion and a National government solution. Finding comfort in Governments that control by utter suppression is not attractive.
We also are confronted with other political and practical problems: we are committed to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are draining resources, taking a toll on our military and impact the ability to allocate personnel or additional resources to afford greater border protection.
For sure, this issue needs to be a National priority and solutions through leadership and compromise is a must. In my personal view, obstinence is no longer an option. 10 years of delay and doing nothing is just plain wrong. This is an area where I agreed with President Bush and wish he had pushed harder for his views.
In other words, what the Feds have not addressed, one state (and Republican at that) has and is!

Is Az state Senate Majority Leader Chuck Gray (and a Florida based man) really a member of the KKK?

So to see shaven-headed jacka^^es flying American flags with swastikas superimposed on their nucklehead makes for .......

Anybody else remember the '60s, when the political left had gotten more extreme during the final days of the New Deal, and if you hadn't noticed, it spurred a 30-year Reaganomic Era?

And in Montebello (part of the LA area), California; a bunch of hispanic students took down the American Flag at their school, turned it upside down and put the Mexican Flag above it, then ran them both back up the pole! I can't figure out how to post those pictures, but will try to figure it out. This kind of garbage should not be tolerated at all here in the USA. If they think Mexico is so freaking great, they should haul their buts right back down there, and stay!

If you want to see the pictures before I figure out how to post them, send me a PM with your email address. I guarantee you, they'll burn you up.
Raising an American Flag upside down has meaning and only in an emergency.

It means "Help Me! It's an emergency! Call the police! I am in dire trouble and need immediate help!"

"When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace."

"The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."

It is a far stretch to argue that political purposes constitute "dire distress."

The clear intent must be as a call for immediate emergency assistance (police, fire, etc.).

People who wish to express their political views should find a way to do so that is respectful of the flag.

The flag may, to some, represent the government and its policies; but it also represents the sacrifices made in all generations to protect our precious freedoms.

It represents the promise of the Declaration of Independence, our freedom of speech and our freedom of religion.

It represents the continuing struggle to achieve our democratic aspirations.

Thus, I would interview the teenagers and if not satisfied strongly suggest each respect the flag and make any political views known in other ways.

It is not illegal.

It is disrespectful to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives to protect the teenagers freedom to protest.
